Diamond Mine was released through Domino on the 28th March 2011 to widespread critical acclaim.

Featuring lyrics and vocals from King Creosote sung over musical backdrops arranged and recorded by Jon Hopkins, Diamond Mine is a genuine labour of love, recorded over a number of years without the pressure of deadlines, whenever Jon and KC could get together.

Described by King Creosote as a ‘soundtrack to a romanticised version of a life lived in a scottish coastal village’, the record weaves in slices of Fife life, bike wheels, spring tides, tea cups and café chatter to produce a beautiful, unique and timeless album.

Its place in history was confirmed when it recieved the highest accolade a UK act can recieve; a nomination for this years Mercury Prize.

Today, they announce their next EP, Honest Words. Featuring a reworking of album track 'Bats In The Attic' as well as two brand new songs, the EP will be available on 19th September on 12” vinyl (DS048T) and via digital download (DS048D).

Lyrically, there's more soul-searching than Fife folklore on the EP follow up to Diamond Mine - the teasing out of the truth in an obfuscating lyric, or contemplating the truth as laid bare by feline nature and star fields. The music underneath follows these thoughts into more expansive, crystalline realms, far away from the harbours and tea-rooms where they began.

We are taking bookings for King Creosote & Jon Hopkins live shows around Europe (excl. UK) where suitable conditions are offered. These feature Jon Hopkins on upright Piano and electronics, and King Creosote on vocals and Guitar, and optionally, two string players.

Jon Hopkins - New album out on Warp with Brian Eno!

450-brianenowarp.jpg

Jon spent the early part of this year working on the soundtrack for 'Monsters', a haunting indie sci-fi road trip from director Gareth Edwards. 2010 also saw him release remixes of tracks by Wild Beasts, Nosaj Thing, Imogen Heap and Four Tet, the latter returning the favour on Hopkins’ latest 12-inch, Vessel, which was backed by a Nathan Fake remix of Wire.

And now, Jon Hopkins, Leo Abrahams and Brian Eno teamed up for Eno's Warp Records debut, Small Craft On A Milk Sea, an album of fifteen dark and dreamlike instrumentals born out of a two-week period of improvisation. Released in November 2010, the album has already been hailed as one of Eno's finest collaborations.

Jon will be spending the early part of 2010 in the studio working on his next album, but is available for select appearances given the right circumstances.

HOP-PIC-1-450px.jpg

Get aquainted with the new superstar of electronic music. Composer, pianist and a self-taught studio wizard Jon Hopkins makes big, bold music using walls of synths, twinkling melodies and amorphous bass rumbles. His skills are impeccable - from Herbie Hancock to David Holmes, contemporary choreographer Wayne McGregor (Random Dance), lo-fi folkster King Creosote, not to mention his current tourbus buddies Coldplay, have all called upon the 28-year-old Londoner's handiwork as a producer and composer. Oh, and he's been collaborating on various projects over the past 5 years with Brian Eno...

Hopkins new album Insides (with a March release date soon to be announced by a very well known label!) is a luscious treasure with more than enough to satisfy the most hardened technoid critics and your Mother all at the same time. Check his myspace here and listen to Vessel - you'll see what we mean. It's going to be BIG.

Hopkins begins a US/UK tour as main support for Coldplay, before preparing for his own launch into the wider sphere in 2009, conducted with passion by your friends here at Littlebig. Email info [at] littlebig.org.uk for more...
